New Car, No Spare ????

Why oh why are all most of the manufacturers selling their loyal customers new cars with no spare wheel as standard? As part of my job I attend a hell of a lot of vehicles made by Ford, Renault, VW, BMW, Audi, Smart,Vauxhall and many many more where there is no spare tyre available to the owner. Some of them can not believe they do not have one and make comments like, "If I had known that, I would,nt have bought it!" or something along those lines.
When these cars get older and the roadside assistance is no longer valid as part of the warranty package there will be a large quantity of poor souls stranded on the side of the road, day and night with no real solution to their plight. The worst thing about this is, if a small puncture occurs and the customer finally masters how to use the tin of sealant, without getting it in their faces or all over thier clothes, and the crappy compressor he drives to the nearest tyre supplier to be informed that his tyre, albeit with 8mm of tread left, is scrap now "because you used the sealant mate". He is then faced with the cost of a new tyre at anything upwards of £80.00 and then he has to go to the dealer and spend about £200.00 on a new tin of sealant and a new compressor, in some cases, so he can do it all over again the next time a small nail punctures his tyre.
If you are one of these poor unfortunate souls, please, all of you, write to the manufacturer of your car and plead for a spare wheel on your next purchase from them, at no extra cost!
I think we should all try and get the Top Gear team on side and try to get them involved to pressure the car makers to at least give a space saver instead of offering it as an optional extra at £300.00 as some do.

Love to hear from you.

Max
